JENNIFER HUANG
MODULE INFORMATION BOOKLET
Week 7 - Project 3 Phase 1 (Original Comic Pilot Story)
For the next two project, you are now tasked to create an original comic
pilot that showcases your illustration and visual narrative skills in the
form of :
- Cover page of your comic
- Cover page of your comic
- One page introduction with animated panel(s).
Think of a fantastic opening for your story. Consider 3-act structures of
introduction - Climax - Epilogue in the narrative flow but with
interesting twists, plot or even a cliffhanger ending to the
page.
The final designs can be wordless and presented only with illustrations,
or it can be detailed with stories, filled with speeches and
texts.
Each style has its own charms and challenges, so think carefully how you
want to create your comic and choose the best style that fits with your
narrative. Think of creating a premise for a story that makes your readers
intrigued. Use logline visuals to help establish your narrative. Engage
your readers from the moment they see the cover page!
Project Requirements:
- Story must be interesting
- Story must be interesting

After the Brief, we then write our original plot story for the
comic..
Week 8 until 10 - Project 3 Phase 2 (Cover Page)
Now that we've had our story, we'll then need to visualize the cover page
of our comic. How would we catch the reader's attention? Think visual
hierarchy. What is it that you want the readers to notice first? Give
hints and ideas about what the story is about, without revealing too much.
Subtlety is the key!

- Must be full page illustration (*png / *pdf format)
- Size a4

Week 10 until 14 - Project 3 Final (One page introduction)
Based on your story and the cover page design, create a One page
introduction of your comic to your readers.. with at least one animated
panel! Arrange your story in visual sequences that make sense and easily
understood. Consider the choice of panel arrangements and transitions.
Determine as well which panel(s) will be best visualized as
animation.
Choose the one that has the best timing in the story flow and transitions
of the visuals that strongly reflect the narrative through characters,
panels, effects, texts, etc. Timing is important! Too slow, your animation
will be draggy and boring. Too quick, your animation won't make sense. So
timed the flow appropriately!
Project Requirements:
- Must be full page (*gif. format)
- Number of panels : Min 3 - Max 15)
- Size : a4
- Full / Partial colored illustrations or greyscale or screen tone shaded
render with AI & PS.
- Visuals must be PG-18 and safe for work.
*The figures bellow was the amount of sketch attempts.. it's not connected to
one another, it's just bc I'm quite dumb in picturing which panel works. hehe
