2) FLIP TOPIC 1 - Redesign bad infographic design into a better design.

*Group Presentation Slides

For this exercise, we were told to look up for any bad infographic poster, since for the group presentation I picked Process Infographic, I decided to redesign the process of Apple.

Fig. 2 Bad Process Infographic Poster.

As you can see, these is one of the example of bad process poster, The excessive use of a bright cyan makes it overwhelming for the reader to read, not to mention that the use of gradients, both in the header and body is extremely outdated. Not only that, the information that are shown are sloppily placed into two columns,  making reader puzzled. Also judging that this is supposed to be process infographics, but the timeline that are shown are shuffled and not chronologically put, which makes the poster fail to serve its purpose as a process infographics.

Here are the redesigned poster that I made on Canva, This poster is clearly more efficient and pleasing to look. The timeline are sorted out chronologically with simple yet clear design, using bright red color as a contrast of the theme i pick "apple". Information are kept short and brief but with clear intention.

3) EXERCISE 2 - LATCH

*Group Presentation Slides

LATCH stands for Location, Alphabet, Time, Category, and Hierarchy, which are principles proposed by William Lidwell, Kritina Holden, and Jill Butler in their book "Universal Principles of Design."

On this next exercise we were assigned to use digital photo editing/ illustration software to assemble any character into a LATCH infographic poster. So for this exercise, I decided to go with the characters of one mobile game that i play "Hay Day".

Basically, the objective of Hay Day is too build a successful farm. Players must complete tasks such as planting and harvesting crops, raising animals, trading goods with neighbors, and building and expanding their farm in order to achieve this goal. To produce and grow your farm, you need to have farm animals such as pig, chicken, cow, goat to produce dairy and goods like milk, eggs, bacon and wool. You can also help your farm to boost quickly with the help of extra points by raising pets like puppies, dog, horse, bunny and cats.

Fig. 4 Animals and their descriptions.

As you can see based on the picture above, each animals produces different products with different amount of time needed for them to accomplish their product. Not to mention, the products that are then ready to be used also have different values and points each.

So after doing observation and data collection, Here's what I decided to put in my infographic poster:

1. Location
    - Farm Animals (Chicken, cow, goat, pig, sheep)
    - Barn Animals (Cat, Dog, puppy, horses, rabbit)

2. Alphabet
    - Alphabetical order ( A-Z)

3. Time (least to longest time needed to produce) :
    -  Eggs = 20 Minutes
    -  Milk = 1 hr
    -  Bacon = 4 hr
    -  Wool = 6 hr
    -  Goat Milk = 8 hr

4. Hierarchy (Points and Coins Earn by each product the animal produces) :
    a. Points
        - Egg (2)
        - Milk (3)
        - Wool & Bacon (5)
        - Goat Milk (6)
    b. Coins
        - Egg (18)
        - Milk (32)
        - Bacon (50)
        - Wool (54)
        - Goat Milk (64)

After collecting all the data, here's my final hay day farm infographic poster :
