Project 1 - Exterior and Landscape Design

Instructions :
You are to choose and develop a location e.g. Temple set, Ruins, Village, city etc based on a theme or story that you have proposed from a game/ move/ cartoon. These are the things to be completed :

1. Moodboard - collection of references and breakdown
2. Thumbnail Sketches - Initial concept ideas
3. Composition studies - 5 drawings, best communicate visually
4. Value Studies - Continue from 5 compositions
5. Ambience Studies - Continue from 5 value painting.

NEW CONCEPT IDEA

For this project's world inspiration, i chose from the movie lord of the rings.. This movie was filmed entirely in New Zealand, the diverse landscape serves as their primary locations. Rolling hills of matamata (The shire), The volcanic plains of Tongariro National Park (mordor)

The movie implements a contrast between different regions that reflects its own unique cultural and thematic elements.

Lord of the rings is one of my favorite movie, aside from the storyline and characters, i love the environment that this movie have. And for that, i chose one of the locations which is the shire, mainly because it has more architectural design compared to the other landscape locations. The shire represents an ideal pastoral utopia, where the landscape's rolling hills, lush gardens, and quaint hobbit holes evoke a sense of comfort and nostalgia. This is the home to hobbits, a small and peaceful folk who are known for their love of comfort, food, and simple pleasures.

Concept ideas:
1. The Hobbit inn - A central Gathering place for hobbits to eat, drink, and socialize. The inn features cozy green interior with exposed wooden beams, stone fireplace and communal tables.

2. Hollow Haunt - The hobbit house in autumn season, where the hobbit celebrates Halloween. With trees showcasing vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow. Pumpkin patch and jack-o-lanterns surrounds the house of decorating. Scarecrows and also fairy lights.

3. The Forgotten Treehouse - What was once a sanctuary for weary travelers, now is abandoned. The exterior depicts wooden beams that are rotting. Windows shattered, collapsed bridges. Overgrown pathways with ivy and moss. Tattered remnants of hobbit clothing hang from branches and drift among the fallen leaves, their fabric torn and frayed. Dark environment.
