INSTRUCTIONS
TASK 1
On the first week of collab design, ms lilian
introduce us briefly about what we'll be doing this semester in collaboration
design project. She mentioned that in this module we'll be handling real
client and this semester's client will be a group of business students from
taylors.
After that, we were assigned into groups of 6 with each group not more than 2 person from the same specialization. Here's my teammate (group 2)
KOOKY KREATORS :
1. Chow Jia Hsuan (Leader)
2. Len Hoi Yee
3. Justin Averill Prasetya
4. Rachel Caroline Leslie
5. Yong Kai Yi
6. Jennifer Huang (ME)
Moving on, she gave us the information and all we need to know about the client and their needs. Here's the Client's proposal :

Project Brief :
QuantoCube will provide user-friendly profiles for both homeowners and skilled contractors, enabling them to showcase their expertise, preferences, and past projects, fostering trust and transparency in their interactions.
Our Group then decided to pitch all our ideas in Figma board so that itll be easier for us to brainstorm. We also had couple of meetings every week to combine our ideas and decide on the topic we're going on for the week.
WEEK 1
(Project brief and Project Plan)
On the first week, we held a meeting to discuss our project brief and project plan about quantocube, Here's what we have after everything is settled.

WEEK 2
(Creating Empathy Map, User Persona)
Next phase, we started brainstorming for our user persona based on the research that we have done. After that we move on doing empathy map for all our target audience. During that process, we finally decided to do 3 User Persona (Contractor, Homeowner, Real Estate Agent)
We also divided works for each user persona, each user persona will be done by 2 person. Me and Justin did the User persona for Real Estate Agent.
Here's our User Persona and Empathy Map.
On this week we also did a meeting with the client to clarify some of our questions regarding the art direction we're getting on and also our brand identity since we're still having unclear decision. Also we thought it'll be better for us to confirm some of the things we have first so that they know our progress this far and if they have any suggestions or comments.
Additionally, we delineated the user journey to visualize the rough app layout according to their specifications and demands. Furthermore, they tasked us with revamping their logo, expressing a willingness to explore a new color palette while emphasizing the desire for vibrant hues. They provided design references to convey their preferred aesthetic direction.
NOTES FROM CLIENT
1. Follow the turqoise and orange for now. colour scheme is open for discussion. they wanna see how the turqoise and orange works first. if we have suggestion of logo designs/colour scheme with the same theme as the logo they have now we can show to them.
2. Brand identity sure can change, but logo design try to maintain the spanner in the house design or something that resembles house work(e.g. danger sign). minimalistic style but not just a box, maybe a box with like a spanner inside.
3. contractors do comply with those laws. client have collaborated with the school of law to make sure they have the laws aligned. but for now they just want the sketch and the barebones of the ui/ux and they'll let us know if we need to adjust based of the legality issues.
4. when they register they need one of their credentials(phone number first then email), afterwards they need a license verification needed. all contractors and technically approved by a government body.
5. the app will show the progress of the work. there will be steps of the payment and contractor working and finishing the work. there might be more steps they wanna add but there is a progress bar. they have two different sections of the app when you login for the first time. "welcome to quantocube services, login as contractor or login as homeowner" and have different sections for the contractor and homeowner but shouldn't seem like they're two different apps
* opacity of the app shouldn't be transparent like the ref picture
* continue as guest should be a minimalised text instead of buttons for logging in
WEEK 3
(Defining Problem Statement through Insight Discovery)
Before deciding Problem statement, our group leader and some seniors suggested we do insight discovery first instead of jumping right through the problem statement so that our thoughts will be clearer and everything will be well structured.
INSIGHT DISCOVERY
So we each did our insight discovery which covers things such as:
1. Brand identity
2. Color Palette
3. App features
4. Marketing Strategies
We all did this in one section, after that we compile everything and lists out the points that are similar. From then on, we can generate problem statement based on the insight discovery that we've done.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
After an extensive meeting, we arrived at the problem statement, which necessitated thorough discussion and consideration. We concluded that delineating two distinct problem statements was essential due to the presence of two distinct target audiences. Despite the bifurcation, the overarching direction of these statements remains aligned, streamlining our efforts during the app development phase.
In the meantime, we also compile references in the moodboard for our next task. The moodboard consist of design elements that we're aiming for, typography that we'll use, branding color palette, Design elements, and etc.
PRESENTATION - WEEK 1
For task 1 presentation, we were to make 2 types of slide, one for ourselves (project document) and another one for client presentation slides. Since our group consists of 6 people, we assigned ourselves by divide to group of 3s for client presenation and another 3 to do project document.
Project Document Work division:
1. Creating the project plan (Jamie)
2. Project Brief (Rachel)
3. Challenge Analysis (Jamie)
4. Target Audience (Jenny)
5. Empathy Map (Rachel)
6. Problem Statement (Jenny)

REFLECTION
Experience
In this 3 weeks, since almost all my teammates are seniors, i learnt a lot from them. The way we came out with either tasks was truly a process worth working for. We began by thoroughly understanding our client's needs, then shaping brand identity by doing some insight discovery and etc. All of us also communicated well (teammates and client, teammates with teammates) which helped this whole process.
Observation
During our research, at first i find it quite challenging since i've never handle such real client which is a pretty big deal although it's also a student but we were thought to start maintaining our professionalism. It was also hard for us in the beginning since the project we're handling isn't just simple marketing and all but things that also requires legal matter. But after quite some time (communicating with clients) we figure things out step by step then finally everything and everyone is clear about the project.
Findings
In these few weeks i find that the insights gleaned from the empathy mapping exercise significantly influenced our strategy for crafting QuantoCube. Through a comprehensive understanding of the intricate needs, emotions, communication styles, trust elements, and technological aptitude of homeowners and contractors alike, we crafted a user-centric app that effectively caters to the diverse requirements of our audience, resulting in a more impactful solution.
