REFLECTION
Experience : This past 14 weeks has truly been a roller coaster
journey for me, at the beginning I really felt overwhelmed with
literally everything that comes with typography, even sometimes I felt
like I couldn't complete this till the end, there were many times that I
felt like giving up due to the dissatisfaction of my work. Little did I
know.. it's normal to experience those feelings especially in the
beginning. Moving forward I finally made peace with typography and
slowly enjoying the process. Through typography, I definitely gain more
knowledge about typographical designs which makes me respect and
appreciate more to the impact of typography that has been brought to a
design. It also makes me pay attention to the tiniest detail when it
comes to designing.
Observation : Since the last 14 weeks, I learned to be more patient and consistent when making a design, a consistent design is important because it defines the readability and cleanliness of ones design. Reading or watching design video contents widens your creativity range and has helped me more when I felt stuck and have no idea what I'm about to do. After learning typography, I noticed that I've become more observant, whenever I walk through billboards, magazine, banners, posters and much more, I would constantly search for the typographical aspects in it and who knows, turns out by doing that I've unintentionally get more inspirations for my upcoming design.
Findings : Throughout this semester, I realize that there are many software that's very practical for us as designers to use, at first I thought it was just AI, PS, AE then now I discover InDesign which is used to design magazine and tidy text forms. Typography isn't something you can master easily, since there are many theories and certain rules you have to follow in order to create a great typeface (for example) so it was truly a great opportunity to learn typography.
